SUMMARY:Anaerobic Soil Disinfestation – A Look at On-Farm Implementation
DESCRIPTION:Session Description\nAnaerobic soil disinfestation (ASD) is a low-cost\, accessible process that was developed separately in the Netherlands and Japan. It is commonly used in the US as an effective\, microbial-based method for controlling soil-borne pathogens\, nematodes and weeds. The process requires minimal intervention and accessible inputs. \nHorticulture Nova Scotia is currently implementing a 2-year program\, assessing the feasibility and success of on-farm implementation of ASD in Nova Scotia. Snowy River Farms was one of our project participants and is opening the doors to her farm to share her experience with ASD implementation! The process took place during the summer of 2024\, and we will be looking at the first crop planted into the treated soil. Join us for this in-person tailgate to see the results firsthand and learn a bit more about ASD.  \nRegister here! \nFor more information\, contact: \nTalia Plaskett\nEmail: tplaskett@perennia.ca\nPhone: 902-305-341

SUMMARY:On-Farm Climate Action Fund (OFCAF) Information Session
DESCRIPTION:The On-Farm Climate Action Fund for Nova Scotia is now accepting applications. Join us for an information session about the program to find out more about how you may be able to access up to $100\,000 in funding to implement Beneficial Management Practices (BMPs) that will contribute to on-farm sequestration of carbon and reduce greenhouse gases. The program is focused on BMPs that improve nitrogen management\, increase cover cropping adoption and normalize rotational grazing.\nFor more information\, please contact programs@perennia.ca or call 902-678-7722.
