  • CanadaGap Food Safety Workshops Horticulture Nova Scotia is once again sponsoring CanadaGAP Food Safety Workshops. The schedule is as follows: Monday, February 5, Waterville Fire Hall Tuesday, February 13, Truro, Agri-Tech Park, Administration Building, Room 214 Thursday, February 15, Oak Hill Fire Hall (near Bridgewater) Time: 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Note: All sessions include lunch and snack. Registration: Priority registration for Horticulture NS members and their employees – $25 plus HST per person. This will include one free manual per farm. Non-members – $65 plus HST per person (if needed, the manual cost is $20 plus HST each). Pre-registration is required.   • HNS Membership Renewal 2018 It’s a new fiscal year for Horticulture Nova Scotia, which means it is time for membership renewal. Notices have been emailed or mailed via Canada Post depending on the preference. The form is also available for download under Member Benefits. Thank you!
  • Tax Credit Update – Food Bank Donations Update on the tax credit for food bank donations from farmers: On Tuesday, December 13, 2016, the Food Bank Tax Credit for Farmers was officially launched with all regulations in place. For more detail, please click on this link Food_Bank_Tax_Credit_Guidelines. Follow this link to read one of the many news reports from the official launch at Feed Nova Scotia. As a reminder, this tax credit is retroactive to January 1, 2016. Many of our members already donate to the food bank on a regular basis, and have done so for many years; we encourage everyone to consider helping those who otherwise may not have enough to eat!
