  • Scotia Horticultural Congress 2018 Mark Your Calendars! Scotia Horticultural Congress 2018 will be held Monday, January 22 and Tuesday, January 23 at the Old Orchard Inn, Greenwich, N.S. The theme this year is “Farming’s Changing Landscape.” The Sponsorship and Trade Show package is now available. Go to the Events tab, then Scotia Horticultural Congress for the information and application. Watch for the registration application and agenda – coming soon!      
  • HNS Membership Renewal 2018 It’s a new fiscal year for Horticulture Nova Scotia, which means it is time for membership renewal. Notices have been emailed or mailed via Canada Post depending on the preference. The form is also available for download under Member Benefits. Thank you!
  • HNS Harvest End Breakfast Thanks to everyone who attended our third annual HNS Harvest End Breakfast; we enjoyed a full house! Thank you to our speakers – Dr. Matt McSweeney (Acadia University), Bill Livingstone (NSCC), and Thomas Trappenburg (Dalhousie and Nexus Robotics). And great thanks to our partner and host Acadia University, with special recognition to Springboard Atlantic, our event sponsor. We look forward to next year! The Harvest End Breakfast is an Acadia University and Horticulture Nova Scotia Industrial Partnership Outreach Event.                                                                                                                                                       
  • Tax Credit Update – Food Bank Donations Update on the tax credit for food bank donations from farmers: On Tuesday, December 13, 2016, the Food Bank Tax Credit for Farmers was officially launched with all regulations in place. For more detail, please click on this link Food_Bank_Tax_Credit_Guidelines. Follow this link to read one of the many news reports from the official launch at Feed Nova Scotia. As a reminder, this tax credit is retroactive to January 1, 2016. Many of our members already donate to the food bank on a regular basis, and have done so for many years; we encourage everyone to consider helping those who otherwise may not have enough to eat!
